About the Role

TechNova's design practice sits right next to engineering — not upstream and disconnected from it. As a Product Designer, you'll own the design process for one or two client engagements at a time, from early discovery workshops through interactive prototypes and into implementation support with our engineering teams.

We're looking for someone who treats research and validation as core to the craft, not a box to check before "the real work" of visual design begins.

Responsibilities

  • Run discovery workshops and user interviews to translate ambiguous client requirements into clear problem statements
  • Design wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI in Figma for web and mobile products
  • Build and maintain design systems and component libraries shared with engineering
  • Facilitate usability testing sessions and iterate designs based on findings
  • Partner directly with frontend engineers during implementation to ensure design fidelity
  • Present design rationale and research findings to client stakeholders, including non-technical audiences
  • Contribute to internal design standards and critique culture across the design team

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience as a product or UX/UI designer shipping real production software
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end process: research, wireframes, prototypes, and final UI
  • Expert-level Figma skills, including component-based design systems
  • Experience conducting and synthesizing qualitative user research (interviews, usability tests)
  • Comfortable designing for both web and native mobile patterns (iOS/Android or Flutter/React Native)
  • Ability to communicate design decisions clearly to engineers and non-designer stakeholders alike, across a distributed global team

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing for regulated or accessibility-critical products (WCAG 2.1 AA+)
  • Basic familiarity with HTML/CSS or React to speak engineering's language during handoff
  • Prior agency or consultancy experience across multiple concurrent clients
